This was a fun project that was close to me. I made this for my best friend of 20 years who owns Captains, a small skate shop in Redwood City, CA. It's a shop that carries skate and motorcycle lifestyle gear, in addition to having four barber chairs. It's a great, successful small business that incorporates everything Casey is about. We had always talked about making a small video that encompasses the lifestyle the shop caters to. So, we finally got around to it. Casey was cast in a commercial Anders and I did a few years ago, so I knew he would be good on camera. We also used to be in a band years ago, and he was definitely one to never shy away from the camera. It was a great day of filming. It was just me and a camera, no camera assistant, no money, no bells and whistles. I got Walter and Anders to help me out with sound and cueing the bikes. It's a pretty bare bones video. We headed out to some low traffic areas in the SF Bay Area hills and had a great morning. From there we had a BBQ and tried to capture some of the moments. I got Jeff McCarthy, a friend and director I often work with, who's also one of the dudes at King Manatee to edit it for me. My buddy Justin Pinkerton, who is a great composer for film/commercials, and a great musician, provided the music, and we ended up with a nice, simple piece. I think the honesty stands out in this video. It was just a lot of friends having a good time, living life fully.
